John 7 - Is Jesus the Christ?

John 7 sets the stage for a very vital question in the Christian faith: Is Jesus the Christ?

To address this question, TYF embarked on its first ever Bible Study Debate to address the resolution. The "for" and "against" sides were led by Emilia and Carol, and Phil Chow and Grace respectively; they proved to be passionate and excellent helpers in spurring the rest of the TYF group to discuss and brainstorm ideas and form arguments.

In the midst of an exciting and heated discussion, the real gains of the event was learning a little about standing up for Jesus in a debate-like or apologetic setting. After all, Peter encourages all his Christian brothers and sisters with these words:

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. (1 Peter 3:15-16)
