Worship Workshops

If you haven't heard, I am trying to put on some workshops every couple of weeks throughout this year to introduce some fundamentals about worship and the ministry. Even if you are not looking to serve in the worship ministry per se any time soon, I still encourage you to come out to learn something new. For those who are looking to serve and or are already serving, I would strongly hope that you come to get equipped to serve Him to your fullest capacity. I am by no means an expert on this subject area, but I feel that God has placed this unique opportunity to share with you all that I have learned, and grown passionate, about worship in the past 7-8 years in this ministry. I'm pulling materials from all over to try and get varied perspectives and will continue to lean on God's grace for knowledge and wisdom. Hopefully I can plan well to invite some discussions throughout the workshops as well so we can all learn from each other.

Worship Leaders PLEASE READ!!! =D

*Bold simply means that this person is the leader responsible for worship that week in TYF – they do not necessarily have to be the worship leader for that week each time. Others in the team can lead songs too! The leader is for organization purposes (see schedule below).

*These teams are set in that I would prefer no switching around. Having said that, I understand due to unforeseen circumstances during the year, conflicts may arise. Leaders, please plan ahead of time to make sure your team can make all the practices and worship time. I will post schedules via email and on the website as early as possible once ST plans out meetings. Please contact me (ac.oohay|gnuehcsaihttam#ac.oohay|gnuehcsaihttam) for permission to pull from other teams. Having consistent teams allows for relationships to gel, both spiritually and musically. It’s ok if it’s only a couple people that lead too!

*I will try to attend all worship practices if possible; so let me in on where/when for practices! However, I will only be playing on one team. (Note: if practicing at church, be sure to book the location, time, date with Auntie Winnie <ten.tenalpsulet|mdacace#ten.tenalpsulet|mdacace> before confirming with your team the practices).

*Hopefully, having gone through the worship workshops and some practices with me leading in the fall semester have helped you all out in one way or another in equipping your tool box for worship ministry. All workshop materials are posted on the TYF website. Feel free to come to me with any questions/concerns about worship, the teams, or anything else!

Our church has purchased a license to use an online resource called "SongSelect". Primarily, it is a great way for worship teams to have the same music/chord sheets. I have set up an account specifically for TYF Worship use.

Username: please ask Matthias for username
Password: please ask Matthias for password

So, just go to www.songselect.com and login. After, you can search for songs by title/author, etc. You can find the lyrics, chord sheets, lead sheets, copyright info, etc. You can also do transpositions into different keys very easily at the chord sheet window. Please use this resource to your advantage. For example, the worship leader can send everyone which songs they're doing, and the rest of the team can get the music right away just by logging in.

I ask that if you choose to use SongSelect, that you be a good steward of the resource. It is meant for 'official' church worship functions (like TYF worship) and practices, etc. Generating a pile of songs to "fatten your personal song collection" is prohibited. Other resources for such purposes can be used. Keep in mind that our church only has a license to 200 different songs to be printed. So, in short, please use it only for TYF worship.
